The Midemlab startups contest has become a key part of the annual Midem music conference in Cannes, France. Now in it’s 12th year, Midemlab is watched closely by the industry as it has a strong track record of successful alumni - previous participants include Soundcloud, The Echo Nest (acquired by Spotify), Next Big Sound (acquired by Pandora), and BandPage (acquired by YouTube). This year over 200 startup music businesses entered into 4 categories, and 20 of the most promising businesses were chosen as finalists to pitch at this year’s competition.
ClicknClear was a finalist in the Music Distribution and Discovery category alongside four other businesses: Soundtracktor, a platform to help composers build their own ‘webshops’, Clapcharts, a music discovery app for new musicians, Banding, a matchmaking startup for bands and musicians and Alissia Music, an app that discovers songs for people based on their mood and preferences.
ClicknClear Founder and CEO, Chantal Epp, pitched ClicknClear to the internationally influential jury, which included executives from Bluenove, RecoChoku, Capitol Records, Deezer and investment firm Alven. Also present in the audience were media companies such as France 24, Mashable and the Guardian, plus music industry powerhouses Warner Music and Sony Records.
ClicknClear were announced as winners of our category by Martin Duval, Co-Founder and Co-President of Bluenove.
